The "Jacks"

Coming Spring of 2025, anglers can experience the beauty and tranquility of the Jacks River for trophy trout fly fishing. Nestled at an elevation of 2,400 feet, the Jacks River flows cold and clear, creating ideal conditions for trout to thrive. This unique fishery, located in northwest Georgia, allows anglers to access the Jacks River just downstream of where its east and west forks converge—no need for the typical two-mile hike to reach this remote section. This is a rare opportunity to fish an unspoiled waterway in a lush, secluded forest, where trout grow large and wild in pristine waters surrounded by towering hemlocks and the echoes of untouched wilderness.

Only about 30 minutes from Blue Ridge, Georgia, the Jacks River offers a secluded and peaceful fishing experience that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Its dense hemlock groves and moss-covered banks transport visitors to a timeless landscape, appealing to those seeking solitude and natural beauty. Here, anglers can truly immerse themselves in nature while casting for trout in the shadow of ancient trees, with only the sounds of the river and wildlife for company. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a newcomer, the Jacks River promises a one-of-a-kind experience for those in search of quiet, undisturbed waters and trophy trout.

Why Fish the Jacks River?

For anglers seeking a secluded and off-the-beaten-path trout fishing experience, North Georgia’s Jacks River is a hidden gem worth discovering. Flowing through the rugged mountains of the Cohutta Wilderness in the northwest corner of Georgia, this pristine waterway offers a peaceful escape for those looking to immerse themselves in nature and cast for both wild & stocked trout. With its crystal-clear waters, lush hemlock forests, and scenic backdrop, Jacks River is one of the lesser-known, truly special trout fisheries in the region. Let's dive into what makes the Jacks River so unique and what you can expect when you visit.

Jacks River is a wild, remote stream with naturally reproducing trout, but we also supplement each year with a bigger class of rainbow trout for added excitement. Located about an hour’s drive from Blue Ridge, Georgia, the river winds through steep, forested mountains, offering both scenic views and a sense of complete solitude. Thanks to its high elevation—around 2,400 feet—the water here stays cool year-round, providing ideal conditions for trout. The river’s rugged terrain makes for excellent habitat, with pools, runs, and riffles teeming with trout, primarily rainbows and browns. Jacks River is catch-and-release only, which helps maintain the healthy population of fish and ensures a sustainable fishing environment.
